Tips on Choosing the Perfect Cake, What to Wear, and What to Bring
Cake-smash sessions are a fun and memorable way to celebrate your little one's first birthday. These sessions involve your child getting messy and having a blast smashing a delicious cake – it's a photographer's dream! If you're planning a cake-smash session in my studio, here are some tips on how to prepare for the big day.
First and foremost, choose the cake for smashing wisely. You can either bring your own cake or have one provided by the studio. If you're bringing your own, choose a sturdy cake that isn't too sweet or sticky and sturdy enough to withstand rough handling. A simple buttercream or cream cheese frosting works well for cake-smashes.
When it comes to attire, it's best to dress your child in something simple and easy to remove. A onesie or diaper cover with a tutu or bowtie makes for a cute and practical outfit. As for mom, dad, and siblings, consider wearing coordinating colours or outfits that complement the overall theme of the session. I provide clothes for your little one, so you don't need to think about it.
Regarding what to bring with you to the studio, it's a good idea to have a few extra outfits and wipes on hand in case of any accidental smearing of frosting. You may also want to bring a change of clothes for yourself and any other family members who plan on joining in on the fun.
During the session, your child can explore and play with the cake, so it's important to let them lead the way. I will be there to capture all of the memorable moments and help guide the session as needed.
Cake-smash sessions are a fantastic way to celebrate your child's first birthday and create lasting memories. With a little preparation, your session will surely be a sweet and memorable experience.
With Love,
